Dear Families,
I am looking forward to an exciting school year with your kindergarten student! The specials that are scheduled for the kindergarten class include library, phy ed, music and art. Your child will also have guidance with Mrs. Pederstuen. A schedule is attached so you will know which classes your child will have each day. Your child needs to wear tennis shoes or bring a pair along on the days when they have phy ed.
When your child has a birthday, he or she is invited to do a birthday presentation. A packet of sheets will be sent home a few days before your child’s birthday. Fill out the sheets and add photographs or whatever you would like. Send the sheets back to school a day before your child’s birthday. You may also send a treat for the class if you would like to. If your child has a summer birthday, we will celebrate their half birthday.
Students will have assigned days to bring an item for show and tell. A note is attached showing the day your child is assigned to. Please have your child bring only one item on his or her day. We will begin show and tell on Tuesday, September 6th.
The paints used in the kindergarten room are washable paints, but some of the dyes might stain certain fabrics. Please be aware that although precautions are taken and paint shirts are worn, your child may ocassionally spill a little paint on his or her clothes.
Book orders will be sent home about every 3-4 weeks throughout the school year. If you would like to order from any of the book clubs, send the order forms back to school with a check written out to just one of the books companies for your total order. You do not need to write a separate check for each order. The books can not be paid for with cash. When you order books, you also help us earn books for our classroom. You are under no obligation to buy books from these companies.
Each child will have a folder that is used for communicating between home and school. Inside the folder will be paper that can be used for parent/ teacher communication. If you have any questions or concerns about your child you can briefly write a note in the folder, and I will do the same. Please be sure your child brings the folder to school each day.
Be sure to check your childs backpack each night. Most days there will be papers and projects coming home. Each full week of school I will send home a parent note so you know what we have been working on.
I am looking forward to a fun-filled year with you and your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hamernik
