Your officer team has a great year planned for you. 

The more you get involved,

the more fun it’ll be.  Take a chance, try something new, and get involved!

FFA MEETING AGENDA

 

1.  Call Meeting to Order-Matt Hoff- Chapter President

2.  OLD BUSINESS-

-Thanks to everyone who participated in summer FFA activities!  We had a busy, fun summer!

-Watch for a chapter newsletter with more details & photos

 

3. NEW BUSINESS

·      Dues – Same amounts this year

o   High School - $15, MS- (Gr. 7-8)$12- 6th grade-  $ 6. (local- PF chapter members only)

§  Pay to Ms. Hanson or chapter treasurer- Liz Boesl

§  Complete the information sheet for our records

§  Remember – of your $15  or $12 (Gr. 7-8)

§  $5.50 goes to WI FFA

§  $5.00 goes to National FFA

§  Rest stays in PF for activities, food, fun, etc

·         Activity Point System:

o   What is it—a way to reward people for getting involved

o   How will it work-participate like in the past, just record what you’ve done, and points will be tallied for each activity

o   Top points earners will have a reward activity/trip at the end of the year

 

·         Ridgeland Parade- Labor Day- Monday, September 7th

o   Need float riders

o    Meet at Wirth Brothers—12:20 pm to decorate

o   Those who ride the float need to help tear down/clean up

o   Wear an FFA or Prairie Farm shirt

 

·         Ag Tour Day  Tentative plans   Gr 6-12

o    When:  To be determined- 1-8*   *time tentative…more details next week

o   Where: Local agricultural places of interest & high technology

  Exact places still being determined

o   Who?  Dues paid FFA members

o   Cost:  $5 for bus; lunch on your own—sack lunch or bring $$

o   DUES MUST BE PAID BY SEPT. 18 to be eligible.

 

·         National Convention – Applications – HS Only

Oct. 23 - 27:  Applications due Sept. 8!

o   We’re riding the Section 1 bus

o   Leave Tuesday 10/20 – after school, return early morning Sat. 10/24

o   Your cost:  $50 registration fees & meals and spending money

o        We’ll be recognized on stage:  Chapter National 3 Star Award        

·         FFA –FIRE  (Foundations In Reaching Excellence) Conference-

o   Who: 7-8- 9th Grade

o   What:  Learn about the FFA & the opportunities it offers you

o   When:  Saturday, October 3 7:30 am, depart, return approx. 7 pm

o   Where:  UW-River Falls

o   Cost:   Dues + $20*, money for supper (fast food)

** This includes t-shirt, lunch, snack, & conference materials

Deadline:  Sign up & pay by Monday Sept. 22nd.

 

 

·      Sectional Leadership Workshop- Amery  – HS & MS – Sign up

-          What:  Learn about FFA, how to set goals for the year, get new ideas

-          Where: Amery HS

-          When:  Thursday, October  1

·          Release at 2:45, leave by 3:00 pm, Return, 8-8:30 pm

-          What to Bring: Official Dress, Bring $$ for fast food supper

-          Sign up by Friday, Sept. 18.

 

 

·         Parent –Member- Alumni- Potluck-

o   Sunday, September 20th

o   All members & families& alumni members invited

o   Letters/invitations to be sent out soon.

 

·         Middle School Football concessions

Need 3-4 workers to help earn funds, (and you earn points for each game worked!)

4:30- 6:30 pm (approximate times)

            Sept. 10- vs. Turtle Lake

            Sept. 24- vs. Northwood

            October 15- vs. Clayton

 

·         Food For America –

                                    -Farm tours for 4th graders- at Jerome’s farm & BACC

                                    - need tour guides & presenters

                                    - Presenters- need to work on displays & presentations

                                                        – starting week of Sept 8.

 

·         Pumpkin Picking @ Hay River Foods

-          We’ve been asked to help harvest pumpkins for pumpkin seed oil at Hay River Foods

-          We’ll need lots of helpers to pick pumpkins, cut them open & scoop seeds

-          Sign up if you are interested.
