Introduction:

The school counseling program is an integral part of the primary educational mission of the Prairie Farm School District. The program supports, facilitates and encourages classroom instruction and student achievement. Our comprehensive school program is proactive and preventative in its focus.  Learning, personal/social, and career/technical needs of students can be met in a comprehensive program. Such an approach stresses prevention of problems by providing students with age- appropriate skills and information through classroom instruction in grades K- 5, group interaction and individual counseling.  A systematic approach to guidance can help make certain that the skills of the counselor are used to optimum advantage, that the invaluable work of psychologists, nurses, and social workers interfaces with the guidance program, that the classroom teachers already important guidance role is strengthened, and that parents and other community resources people are kept informed and urged to participate more actively in the education of children.
