Students in painting will take a close look at the various ways to create 2D art using paint as the primary material. Basic vocabulary, color theory and harmony will be investigated. Through experimentation with several techniques and methods of painting, students will gain an understanding and appreciation for this form of art. We will primarily be using acrylic paint and will also experiment with watercolor and mixed media. A variety of surfaces will be painted on including, stretched canvas, wood panel, paper and pre primed canvas board. Many famous artists throughout history will be referenced throughout the semester.
