This course will introduce basic accounting concepts, principles and procedures.  Four accounting cycles are covered.  1) Service business. 2) Automated cycle organized as a proprietorship with multi-column journal applications. 3) Merchandising business organized as a partnership with expanded journal applications. 4) Merchandise business organized as a corporation with special journal applications.

Description:

 

MTTH  A writing course that focuses on the basic techniques of composition, on the composing process with attention to drafts and revisions and on coherence and organization of student essays.

Description:

 

MTTH   A rhetoric course that focuses on writing which presents information, ideas, and arguments, with attention to the essay and techniques of documentation.  Emphasis will be on academic writing which is applicable across the curriculum.

FRENCH II

An advance study of the French language.  Students considering post secondary education are recommended to take this course as two years of foreign language are required at many universities.

 

 

MYSTERIOUS UNIVERSE

Description:

 

A view of the world using modern physical thought.  We will cover, among other things:  the size, scope and scientific origin of the universe, the ultimate nature of matter; modern ideas of space, time and energy; the possibilities of extra terrestrial life; and the values and limitations of science.  This course will not require an extensive background in math or physics, but will be conceptually challenging.  Open to juniors and seniors only due to the physical science knowledge necessary to understand many of the concepts.

Participants will learn the manual alphabet, signed numbers, sign vocabulary, and develop receptive and expressive skills in American Sign Language (ASL).  Students will interact with a variety of people, assistive devices and an animal from the Deaf Culture.  Issues pertinent in the deaf culture will be researched and discussed.  Students will perform in ASL at various school functions.  Upon completion of the course, students will be able to communicate effectively in basic signed conversations and be familiar with the values of the Deaf Community.  NCAA approved at origination site.

WORLD WAR II

Description:

 

First quarter, the war in the Atlantic will be featured.  Second quarter, the war in the Pacific will be covered.  We will do in depth studies on many major battles and their importance to the war as well as in depth studies on military leaders and their decisions.  The class will be taught through Power-Point presentations and thought movies, some of which will be very graphic.  Primary grading will be through tests, quizzes, and maps.
