High School Art
Art is an elective at the High School level. Courses offered focus on specific content areas within the arts. These coursed include; Painting, Ceramics, Drawing, Printmaking, Self Expression and Design.

Design

Students in Design will take a look at the important role design plays in society today and learn about the impact it has on people throughout the world. During the semester students will examine the principles of design and explore the different areas of study within the design world. Areas of focus will be graphic design, industrial or product design, fine art, photography and fashion design. This course is an excellent choice for any student who might be considering art or design as an occupation in the future. It is also a good choice for anyone interested in using a variety of materials to create art. Materials utilized throughout the semester include clay, paper-mache, duct-tape, a variety of drawing materials, a digital camera and the computer.

Self-Expression

Self-Expression takes a close look at some of the many ways to express oneself through art and creativity. Students in this class will learn how to translate thought and emotion into art, as well as explore the human figure and facial structure. This is a great class to take if you enjoy working with a variety of art materials. Materials experimented with include clay, wire, packaging tape, acrylic and watercolor paint, and numerous drawing materials.

Printmaking

Students in this course will experiment with and examine numerous methods of printmaking and learn the history behind this form of artmaking. Techniques include relief printing, monoprinting, stamping, etching and screenprinting. A variety of materials will be utilized including linoleum, scratchboard, plaster casting, fish, vegetables, styrofoam and wood to name a few.
