CERAMICS

This course is for students interested in exploring the art of creating 3D forms with clay. Students will develop basic skills and learn a wide range of vocabulary associated with this type of art making. Several hand-building techniques will be introduced, including pinch, slab and coil construction. We will also experiment with using different types of molds to create forms. In this class students will learn how to use the potters wheel. Many art styles and cultures will be referenced throughout the semester, including Japanese, Chinese, Southwest Indian, African and Art Deco. Due to storage space, allowed class size is a maximum of 18 students.
