Public Complaint About Instructional / Library Materials
The Board of Education of the School District reserves to itself the final responsibility for all library and instructional materials used and curricula taught in the district schools. The Board recognizes that without a free and vigorous exchange of ideas, learning and teaching cannot take place effectively.
When citizens have concerns about particular instructional materials, these concerns should be presented to the building principal in accordance with established procedures. If a citizen is not satisfied with the administrative decision regarding the instructional materials in question, he/she may submit the concern to the Board of Education for consideration.
The School District shall not discriminate in the selection and evaluation of instructional and library materials on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability.
