Operating Recreational Vehicles on School Property
The Board of Education recognizes that the use of recreational vehicles on school property presents a hazard to students and staff using school grounds as well as problems in relation to the preservation of school property.
The Board, pursuant to its lawful authority, hereby prohibits the use and operation of any and all recreational vehicles on the grounds, parking lots, sidewalks and driveways of the schools. For the purpose of this policy recreational vehicles include snowmobiles, go-carts, trail bikes, all-terrain vehicles and similar motorized vehicles not licensed to travel on public highways. All parking lots and driveways may be used by vehicles licensed for road travel at anytime according to posted regulations and within accepted driving procedures.
Licensed all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles may be driven to the high school on established trails provided that any all-terrain vehicles or snowmobiles driven to the high school are operated in a responsible manner by a licensed operator, parked in the designated area, and registered in the high school office.
The only exception to this policy will be the operation of a designated recreational vehicle during a duly organized and properly supervised vehicle safety class, regular daytime or community education sponsored class, or a class leading to an operator's license.
