School District of Prairie Farm
Smoking and Other Tobacco Use on School Premises
As the evidence accumulates proving serious hazards to the health of users of tobacco products and to the health of those subjected to tobacco smoke, it is the policy of the School District of Prairie Farm that no official, staff member or visitor shall take any action which might encourage a student to smoke or otherwise use tobacco products. Students look to adults as role models and justify their actions by the examples of others, especially adults in positions of authority. If the district is not to encourage tobacco use, it must not condone tobacco use by students or adults in the
school environment.
Therefore:
1. Students shall not be allowed to possess or use tobacco products at any time on property owned by, rented by or under the control of the School District of Prairie Farm.
2. The use of tobacco products by adults shall be prohibited at all times on property owned by, rented by or under the control of the School District of Prairie Farm. Violation of this policy, as any other policy, shall be referred to the administration and dealt with accordingly.
