Community Use of School Facilities

 

The Board of Education recognizes the value of community organizations / activities and also recognizes the role that the school can serve in providing a place for community meetings and / or activities.

 

Non profit organizations and educational groups will not be charged a user fee if the time of use is during hours when employee is on duty, the group is supervised by adults and the activity does not conflict with Prairie Farm School functions.  Priority of use will be given to Prairie Farm School functions and then to youth groups such as Boy Scouts and 4-H.  Requests to use the building shall be made through the building administrator/s.  Organizations shall provide adequate adult supervision and shall be held liable for any damages that occur.

 

Private groups or individuals requesting use of the facilities will be charged at the following rates:

 

            Gymnasium/Multi Purpose Room - $15.00 plus heat and lights at $2.00 per hour  plus janitorial service.  Twenty five dollars will be charged if the requesting party charges admission plus heat, lights and janitorial service.

 

            Cafeteria/Kitchen Use - $10.00 plus one of the regular cooks must be present if the dishwasher is used.

 

            Use of Gymnasium by adults for Basketball / Volleyball - No fee is charged  unless damage occurs.  An employee of the school must be on duty at the  time of use.

 

            Use of Classroom - Same rates as the use of the gymnasium/multi purpose room above.

 

Organizations or individuals requesting use of school facilities shall be asked to comply with the following guidelines:

           

1)      Ensure that no unauthorized third party will be permitted to use the facility or any portion thereof.

2)      Ensure that participants will not be restricted from participation for reasons of the person's sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability or handicap.

3)      Ensure that the designated representative specified in the agreement is present at the scheduled event.

4)      Ensure that prior approval is received before signs, banners, and pennants are erected, and that they do not deface school property.

5)      Ensure that children will be supervised.  Provide the required number (one adult to ten children) of adult chaperones for children.

6)      Ensure that the number attending the event does not exceed the authorized capacity of the scheduled area.

7)      Ensure that the participants' vehicles will be properly parked.

8)      Ensure that the participants are in only the requested area/s.

9)      Food and beverages should be consumed only in areas where allowed.

10)  Ensure that activities will be orderly and lawful.

11)  Smoking is prohibited on school property.

12)  Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on school property.

13)  Animals are not permitted inside of the school building unless part of the activity.

14)  Observe time limits that were agreed upon.

15)  Leave the building neat and orderly.

16)  Ensure reimbursement for the cost of damage occurring during the use of the facility.

17)  Agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Board of Education with respect to any claim or loss, injury, or damage because of negligence of the user or user's group or agents including damage to property of the school or property for which the school is liable.

18)  Comply with safety regulations of the Board of Education.

19)  Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.

20)  Groups or individuals may be restricted from the use of the school facilities at the discretion of the building administrator/s, district administrator, community education coordinator, or the Board of Education.
