School District of Prairie Farm

Support Staff Evaluation

The purpose of staff evaluations in the Prairie Farm School District are to let employees know the expectations for job performance and the level to which they are achieved.  The evaluation process is oriented toward improvement in job performance and reflects concern for the staff members' growth and development.  Administrative support is an integral part of the evaluation process.

The evaluation form represents one important measure of the total evaluation process.  Evaluation is done with people - not to them.  All staff members are to be evaluated at least one time per year by their supervisor.  Job positions and job descriptions will be reviewed periodically as a part of the evaluation process.

  1. Evaluation should be a continuous process throughout the school year.

  1. The evaluation process requires a cooperative effort between the employee and the supervisor.

  1. The evaluation process should include the setting of goals for the work area.

  1. School personnel are to be informed through a conference as to the supervisor's assessment of job performance.

  1. The written evaluation report is to be both objective and subjective in nature.

  1. All information regarding the supervisor's assessment of job performance is to be available to the employee.

  1. Should circumstances arise where it is necessary to address specific job related difficulties, this will be done initially by the supervisor in oral conference.  Records regarding such discussions will be kept in the employee's personnel file in the District Administrator's office.  Should such a circumstance remain unresolved, the net step would be to have the situation reviewed by the District Administrator.  Should further appeal be necessary, a review of the matter will be made by the Board of Education.
