Job Title

District Classroom Teacher

Qualifications

Appropriate DPI Wisconsin license for the grade level assignment.

Reports to:

District Administrator and/or School Principal.

Primary goal of  the District Classroom Teacher 

Offer high quality instruction based upon best practices and create an effective, caring, learning environment in their classrooms and school so that every child has the best opportunity to meet his/her highest potential.

Position  Requirements and Responsibilities

1. Classroom Procedures

 

 

 

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated and indicated in the Bargaining Agreement.
  2. Teachers shall select one of two starting and ending times and report to work on time each day.
  3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, administrative regulations, and board policy.
  4. Prepares for absence by maintaining an up-to-date substitute folder.

Instruction, Continued.

1.       Teacher prepares quality lessons and prepares for classes as assigned.

2.       Prepares for classes as assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request by the administration. 

3.       Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Teachers must be prepared to differentiate curriculum as required. 

4.       Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the age level and abilities of the students.

5.       Develop appropriate lesson plans using methods and materials that adapt the curriculum to the needs of the students.

6.       Uses up-to-date teaching aides, including the appropriate use of technology.

7.       Keeps current on best instructional practices and technology.

8.       Strives to implement by instruction and action the District’s philosophy, of education, established district curriculum goals, course content, curriculum, and establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.

9.       Plans and prepares purposeful assignments for volunteers and instructional and clerical support staff when appropriate.

3. Classroom Management

 

 

 

1.       Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 

2.       Identifies student needs, cooperates with professional and support staff to help students solve health, social, learning, and attitude problems, and seeks to help every student succeed in class.

3.       Takes all prudent and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

4.       Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

5.       Shares responsibility for maintaining order and acceptable behavior outside the classroom setting (hallways, commons, etc.).

4. School Parent Relations

1.       Communicates student progress through conferences, report cards, and uses District technology to optimize communication with parents and guardians, or as needed.

 

5. Professional Development

1.       Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies District requirements and satisfies personal expectations as a professional educator.

6.  General

1.       Maintains a working relationship with all staff by being supportive and by establishing a relationship that promotes communication.

2.       Attends staff meetings and serves on appropriate committees.

3.       Performs such other duties as assigned within the Board’s authority, the Master agreement, state and Federal law.
