STUDENT DEMONSTRATION/WALKOUT PROCEDURES
In the event of a possible student demonstration or walkout, the following procedures shall be put in place:
Prior to the Demonstration/Walkout
Prior to a possible student demonstration or walkout, the PreK-12 principal or designee shall:
1. Demonstrate willingness to discuss the issue(s) with any designated student leader(s).
2. Approach the students and attempt to determine the reason for their actions.
3. Direct the students to return to their classrooms and cease disrupting the school environment.
After a Demonstration/Walkout
After a student demonstration or walkout has taken place, the following procedures shall be carried out:
1. Attendance shall be taken in each classroom to develop a complete list of those students participating in the demonstration or walkout.
2. Police may be called for assistance.
3. Students participating in the demonstration or walkout shall be advised that they need to return to class and give their name as they enter the building.
4. Students participating in the demonstration or walkout who do not return to the building may be referred to the police for possible disorderly conduct or truancy charges.
