DANGEROUS WEAPONS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
The Prairie Farm School District expressly prohibits the presence of dangerous weapons on school property or school buses. This policy does not apply to either law enforcement officers who are acting within the scope of their employment, or to persons to whom the principal or designee has given prior approval to possess a weapon when such possession has been determined by the principal or his/her designee to have a legitimate purpose.
For purposes of Board policy, a dangerous weapon means a gun, knife, razor, karate stick, metal knuckle or any other object which, by the manner in which it is used or intended to be used, or by its appearance as a dangerous weapon, is capable of inflicting bodily harm and/or of being used to threaten, frighten, or intimidate.
Any student violating this policy shall be reported to law enforcement authorities and shall be subject to school disciplinary action, including suspension and recommendation for expulsion, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. Any non-student violating this policy shall also be reported to law enforcement authorities. Employees who violate this policy shall be subject to discipline including unpaid suspension and termination of employment.
