423.1 Rule
School District of Prairie Farm
Guidelines for the Admission of Foreign Exchange Students
The School District of Prairie Farm wants to provide a quality experience for all exchange students. The following guidelines must be adhered to before any organization is allowed to have a student enrolled in the school district.
1. Applications to attend school during the first semester must be submitted on or before June 30. Applications to attend school during the second semester must be submitted on or before September 15.
2. The sponsoring organization is to provide the following information in writing:
a. The method of student selection (the student must be at least 15 years old to be selected).
b. The method of determination of English proficiency.
c. The name of the person responsible for providing the customs and immigration requirement forms.
d. The arrival and departure dates of the student.
e. Student records and experiences required for enrollment, specifically:
(1) academic records
(2) health records
(3) immigration record
(4) records of extracurricular activities
f. The travel arrangements to and from the United States and inside the United States.
g. The name, address and telephone number of the host family with a statement of its responsibilities.
h. The purpose and financial status of the sponsoring organization.
i. The name, address and telephone number of the area representative and his/her responsibilities.
3. The sponsoring organization must provide written proof that it is authorized by the United States Information Agency, State Department.
4. The sponsoring organization must provide written proof of insurance coverage including health, accident and liability for the student who is affiliated with United States Insurance Underwriters.
6. The sponsoring organization's area representative should meet with the school's representative prior to admittance of a student. The host family shall have a meeting or telephone contact with the guidance counselor prior to the exchange student's arrival.
