National Honor Society Policy

 

One of the goals of the Prairie Farm Schools to create a learning environment that is academically challenging for students. Prairie Farm Schools believes that participation in organizations that celebrate positive student development and academic achievement motivates students to excel. Prairie Farm Schools recognizes that the National Honor Society (NHS) encourage students to maintain high levels of academic achievement and promote student development. The goal of the National Honor Society is to enable its members to use their talents, skills, and knowledge for the betterment of the school, community, and other various activities and projects. Prairie Farm Schools recognizes and supports the standards of the NHS in recognizing students in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The Prairie Farm chapter is expected to conform to this policy and to the rules and procedures found in the Constitution and Handbook of the NHS. In accordance with the NHS rules and local school guidelines, the Faculty Council of the local chapter shall determine membership in the organization based on a student’s cumulative GPA (scholarship) and acceptable levels of character, leadership, and service. To be considered for membership in either organization a Prairie Farm Schools student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
