Challenge of IMC Materials Selection
If a complaint is made the procedures are as follows:
- Be courteous, but make no commitments.
- Invite the complainant to file objections in writing and offer our form to complete so that they may submit a formal complaint to the media committee.
- Temporarily withdraw the material pending a decision of the media committee.
- Inform the District Administrator and the media supervisor.
- The media committee will:
- Read and examine materials referred to it.
- Check general acceptance of the materials by reading reviews.
- Weigh values and faults against each other and form opinions based on the materials as a whole and not on passages pulled out of context.
- Meet to discuss the material and to prepare a report on it.
- File a copy of the report in the school and administrative offices.
Decision of the media committee may be referred to the Board of Education.
