TITLE I Parental Involvement Policy

The following is a policy written by the Title I Teachers and Reading Specialist after consultation with and review by parents to ensure that parents of the children being served in the Title I program have had, and will have, an adequate opportunity to participate in the design and implementation of the Title I program. This written policy will be disseminated at the fall parent/meeting and reviewed annually at the spring parent-planning meeting.

  1. Parents of a child selected to participate in the Title I Program will be notified of the same and informed as to why their child was selected for placement in the Title I Program.

  1. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held with the parents of each participating child to discuss the child’s placement, progress, and helpful ideas the parents can use to compliment the child’s instruction.

  1. Prairie Farm Title I program personnel will be accessible to meet with parents during regular school hours or by appointment.

  1. Parents of participating children are encouraged to observe the Title I LEA (Local Education Agency) program activities.  These times can be scheduled to accommodate parents and to provide an orientation before observation is scheduled.  Information regarding the Title I LEA program activities for parents who cannot participate will be disseminated through letter, telephone, or conference.

  1. Parents will be invited to two annual meetings; A fall meeting to disseminate Title I program information and a spring meeting to review the composition and goals of program, assess the needs and desires of parents, revise procedures as warranted, and evaluate the program.  Meeting minutes will be kept and information will be disseminated to parents unable to attend by letter, telephone, or conference.

  1. Parents will be kept informed of timely information by letter, telephone or conferencing.  Parent/School compacts have been developed to better serve the student.

  1. Parents of Title I children will be kept informed of parental involvement requirements and other relevant provisions of the Title I program.

  1. Reasonable financial support will be provided for parent involvement activities as parents may request.  This will be based on allocations.

  1. Information, programs, and activities for parents will be provided in a language and form that can be easily understood.
