Children At Risk Programs
The Board of Education shall establish a program to serve children in the district that have been identified as being at risk.
Wisconsin State law requires schools to identify students who are at risk of not graduating from high school. Statutes define these students as pupils in grades 5 to 12 who are at risk of not graduating from high school because they are dropouts or have two or more of the following:
- One or more years behind their age group in the number of credits attained,
- Two or more years behind their age group in basic skill levels,
- Habitual truants, as defined in Statute 118.6(1)(a),
- School age parents.
- Adjudicated delinquents,
- 8th grade pupils whose scores in each subject area on the examination administered under 118.30(1m) were below the basic level,
- 8th grade pupils who failed the examination
- 8th grade pupils who failed to be promoted to the 9th grade.
Students shall be identified and referred to these programs in accordance with state regulations and guidelines. An annual report concerning children at risk shall be made to the Department of Public Instruction.
