330 Rule

Curriculum Development and Adoption Procedures

 

The following steps must be taken for curriculum/course development or significant change:

 

1.      Curriculum changes may be initiated by any one (1) of the following by:

 

a.       District Administrator

b.      Pre K-12 principal

c.       Curriculum Coordinating Committee

d.      Individual teachers

 

2.      All teachers and administrators affected and/or involved must be notified of any intent to change and be invited to participate in any/all change procedures, even if they are not on the curriculum committee.

 

3.      Staff or committees requesting a change must complete a New Course/Course Change proposal and submit the plan to Curriculum Coordinating Committee. 

 

4.      It is the responsibility of the Chair of the Curriculum Coordinating Committee to study the proposed change or new course and make recommendations to the Curriculum Coordinating Committee for further study and discussion.

 

5.      It is the responsibility of the Curriculum Coordinating Committee to approve the proposed change or new course and make recommendations to those requesting the change if needed or forward to the District Policy Committee if necessary.

 

6.      It is the responsibility of the Chair of the Curriculum Coordinating Committee to assist as needed and to keep teachers informed as to content and format necessary for the curriculum documents.

 

7.      Curriculum writing will be accomplished using the District’s adopted program, “Build Your Own Curriculum.”
