Curriculum Development and Adoption
The Board has a responsibility for maintaining a minimum program of instruction guaranteed by the state statutes and for initiating improvements beyond the state minimum. The curriculum shall be aligned with state standards, supported by local curriculum benchmarks. The curriculum shall be reviewed and updated on a regular basis as determined by District policy.
Professional staff, supported by the Curriculum and Staff Development Committee under the direction and supervision of the District Administrator, shall be delegated the responsibility for proposing and developing curriculum changes and additions for the School District of Prairie Farm. Communications and coordination among grade level and subject area teachers should be emphasized on a pre-kindergarten through grade twelve whenever curriculum is developed. Each subject area shall adhere to a 3 year cycle of curriculum review, textbook and materials selection and curriculum re-writing as appropriate.
All subject area offerings and any additions or deletions to the curriculum shall be reviewed by the Curriculum and Staff Development Committee and recommended for adoption or deletion by the Board before they are initiated or dropped from the existing program of instruction.
The District Administrator shall be responsible for implementing the courses of instruction required by Board policies and State of Wisconsin requirements. The District Administrator shall keep the Board updated in a timely manner. The District shall comply with all state and federal laws.
