School District of Prairie Farm

Prayer at School Sponsored Events

It is the policy of the School District of Prairie Farm that no prayers of any nature be recited aloud, nor silent prayer encouraged, as part of, or in connection with, any school sponsored event.

School sponsored events includes all curricular and extra-curricular activities offered by the District, as well as any other activity or function sponsored and fiscally supported by the District, or in a forum controlled by school officials, including faculty members while acting in an official capacity. This shall not be deemed to include activities on school premises sponsored exclusively by outside groups or organizations to whom access has been granted in conformance with Sec. 120.13 (17), Wis. Stats., or constitutional “equal access” principles.

Nothing in this policy shall be construed to limit or abridge the free speech rights of any student having occasion to speak at a school sponsored event.
