School Nurse Job Description
Qualifications:
- Licensed registered nurse
Responsibilities:
1. Respond to health-related emergencies upon request.
2. Participate in Prairie Farm’s pre-kindergarten and kindergarten screening programs.
3. Coordinate a process and or care plan to inform staff of medically fragile children in an expeditious manner and facilitate the training of staff working with medically fragile children.
4. Coordinate and monitor the administration of medication to students (pursuant to a physicians order).
5. Coordinate and assist in the provision of direct education services to classrooms, teenage parents, and health-related student assistance programs.
6. Serve as a resource to, and be a contributing member of the Pupil Services Team, the Human Growth and Development Advisory Committee, special education teams, the K – 12 Health Curriculum and the School Safety Committee, as requested.
7. Conduct general health screenings across the Prairie Farm School District.
8. Serve as a liaison between Prairie Farm and the medical community.
9. Perform other duties as directed by the School District of Prairie Farm’s District Administrator and as requested by the Director of Special Education / Pupil Services, which would be received by the coordinator and delegated to the Nurse.
10. Serve as the coordinator of School Nursing Services.
11. Provide ongoing staff development focused on health related issues, as requested.
12. Conform to all applicable policies and procedures of the Prairie Farm School District.
13. Complete two (2) hours of above duties per week, based upon need.
