Pre-K12 Dean of Students

The Dean(s) of Students is responsible for student related school business, which includes monitoring attendance, reporting truancy and overseeing all aspects of student-related discipline. The Dean of Students is also responsible for developing and implementing programs designed to improve the overall school climate as it relates to students and their activities. The Dean of Students will also perform non-supervisory administrative functions to assist the District Administrator in day-to-day school operations.  The Dean of Students is a core member of the School District’s administrative team.  

The Dean of Students is recommended to be visible, sharing attendance responsibilities at school events with the District Administrator, at the District Administrator's discretion.

Position Qualifications

  1. Certified to teach in the State of Wisconsin.
  2. Masters degree in educational field or enrolled in a master's degree program to be completed within three years from date of hire.
  3. Three or more years of successful teaching experience.
  4. Ability to communicate well with students across the spectrum of Pre K - 12.
  5. Reports to the District Administrator

Student Management Responsibilities

  1. Monitoring and enforcement of district-wide attendance policies.
  2. Development of district-wide discipline programs

<!--[if !supportLists]-->¨      <!--[endif]-->Monitors and enforces all student discipline issues, including but not limited to behavior at school, extracurricular events and bus ridership.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->¨      <!--[endif]-->Inform District Administrator of student-related discipline issues, including student suspensions and expulsion recommendations.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->¨      <!--[endif]-->Conduct parent conferences for student post suspension and/or expulsion re-entry to the school.

Student Achievement

  1. Assist the guidance counselor in the coordination and administration of the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE).
  2. Assist the guidance counselor in resolving scheduling issues as needed.
  3. Participate in school-wide committees.
  4. Collaborate with district analysis team in evaluating student achievement and test scores. 

General Responsibilities

1.   Provide weekly and monthly reports to the school board on student achievement           and recognition (public press release, school website).

2.   Communicate to parents and community on a regular basis and as needed.  

3.   In conjunction with guidance provided by the District Administrator, coordinate             the Prairie Farm School District’s summer school program.

4.   Develop after school student programs in conjunction with community education.

  1. Participation in District and Community Strategic Planning.
  2. Work with the developmental assets.
  3. Attend I.E.P. meetings when appropriate.
  4. Other duties as assigned by the District Administrator.
