Qualifications

  1. Certified to teach and administrate in the State of Wisconsin, DPI license 51.
  2. Ability to communicate well with students across the spectrum of pre-K-12.
  3. This individual must be a self starter and motivated and meet the highest ethical standards.

Primary goal of  the District Principal   

The District principal is responsible for student related school business, which includes monitoring attendance, reporting truancy and overseeing all aspects of student-related discipline. The Principal is also responsible for developing and implementing programs designed to improve the overall school climate as it relates to students and their activities. The Principal will also perform non-supervisory administrative functions to assist the District Administrator in day-to-day school operations.

 

The principal shall develop yearly goals based upon District and individual needs that support overall School District Mission.

Position  Requirements and Responsibilities

1.  Attendance and Discipline

 

1.      Monitor student attendance; contact parents of absent students daily.

2.      Oversee student discipline-including detention and suspension programs.

3.      Arrange parent meetings as appropriate.

4.      Report truancy when required.

5.      Recommend expulsion of students when necessary.

6.      Explore best practice school discipline programs for continuous program improvement.

7.      Assist in all staff personnel in promotion of a positive school climate.

8.      Supervise bus loading and unloading daily.

9.      Coordinate recess schedules as necessary with elementary staff.

10.  Supervise and/or arrange supervision in commons at noon and after school. 

11.  Assist with and develop after school programs for students at the middle and high school levels.

 

2.  Student and Community Activities

 

1.      Attend I.E.P meetings as required.

2.      Supervise middle school student council; assist with high school student council advisor in activities as needed.

3.      Work with Future Search Climate Committee.

4.      Attend large-group Future Search meetings.

5.      Assist with planning of special school events at all levels, such as Toys for Tots, etc.

3. Operational Responsibilities

1.      Responsible for the development of student handbooks.

2.      Assist in the preparation of District Emergency Manual updates.

3.      Oversee class scheduling at various grade levels, Pre-K12.

4.      Attend all staff meetings as required.

5.      Assist with preparation of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

6.      Prepare communication with local new outlets as necessary, such as the Hay River and the Barron News Shield.

7.      Coordinate monthly fire and safety drills.

8.      Work with program advisors with field trip preparation.

9.      Assist in implementation of all School Board policies.

10.  Responsible for updating and keeping student policy current (400’s).

4. Additional Responsibilities

 

1.      Attend all School Board meetings.

2.      Provide weekly and-- monthly reports to School Board as required.

3.      Attend Lakeland Conference Principals meetings.

4.      Supervise middle and high school athletic events and extra-curricular activities as arranged.

5.      Assist in the scheduling and operation of the District’s summer school program.

6.      Assist in the District’s assessment program.

7.      Other duties as assigned.
