Qualifications

Wisconsin Teaching license 03, Superintendent. The District Administrator must have a minimum of three years administrative experience. The individual must be a self starter, visionary and goal centered. This person must be able to communicate to all district stakeholders and have the courage to make tough decision when called upon.

Primary goal of  the District Administrator 

The primary goal of the District Administrator is to lead and oversee all school district operations.

                  Position  Requirements and Responsibilities

1. Leadership

 

The District Administrator shall provide the leadership necessary to (provide the district a sense of mission).

1.       Seeks to foster high morale, cohesiveness, and loyalty among district staff and students.

2.       Provides clear expectations and direction for staff directly responsible to him and accepts responsibility for their actions.

3.       Is dependable in following through on decisions.

4.       Delegates authority effectively and follows up on status of delegated assignments.

5.       Is knowledgeable on state and federal laws; understands issues at that level and provides information and sound advice as needed.

6.       Coordinates the total educational programs and provides leadership in educational and curriculum development and improvement.

Assumes responsibility for making all recommendations to the Prairie Farm School Board on all phases of district operation

2. Communications

The District Administrator/ will develop and implement the necessary communication and public relations programs that will provide information to and solicit input from all community and school stakeholders.

1.       Speaks effectively in front of large and small groups in a clear and concise manner.

2.       Prepares and submits timely and accurately reports to the school board, Department of Public Instruction

3.       Develops and nurtures positive relationships with all stakeholders in the Prairie Farm School District.

4.       Demonstrates clear and concise oral and written communication.

5.       Is a good listener; responds to questions and requests for information. Shares information freely.

6.       Informs the school board on school operations, including policy updates and the general condition of the school district.

7.       Assumes responsibility for making all recommendations to the Prairie Farm School Board on all phases of district operations.

 

3. Planning

The District Administrator shall provide the leadership necessary to assist the School Board of Prairie Farm and District Stakeholders in short term and long range planning.  This includes directing the establishment of building level goals that align with district level goals.

1.       Helps the school board in development of short term and long-range goals by acting as a catalyst of change, fostering new ideas.

2.       Regularly updates the school board on organizational activities in the district through direct superintendent reports or designates individuals to provide informational reports to the board.

3.       Is responsible for facilities planning, use of district equipment and supervision of building and grounds subject to school board policies.

 

4. Fiscal Management

The District Administrator shall provide for the effective fiscal administration of the school district according to the laws of the State of Wisconsin and School Board philosophy.

1.       Responsible for the development and presentation of the Annual School District budget.

2.       Establishes and maintains efficient procedures and effective controls for all expenditures of school funds.

3.       Advises school board regularly on issues of budget and school finance.

4.       Facilitates systematic planning and make recommendations to the school board on potential building projects facility needs and renovations.

5.       Uses new and creative solutions to minimize cost to the school district.

 

5. Personnel

The District Administrator shall oversee all aspects of employee-employer relationship, recruitment, staff development, and evaluation.

1.       Provides for a clear understanding of job performance expectations and work responsibilities for all district employees.

2.       Recruits the best available candidates for all available positions.

3.       Conducts an orderly staff development program based upon the School District’s mission and goals.

4.       Conduct appropriate personnel evaluations; recommends improvement programs when necessary and provides positive reinforcement for all employees when appropriate.

5.       Demonstrates respect and courtesy for all staff and board members, publicly and privately.

6. Personal Professional Attributes

The District Administrator shall provide moral leadership; conduct himself in an ethical manner, demonstrate fairness and integrity at all times when dealing with self and others.

1.       Takes responsibility for his own actions; operates in accordance with the highest standards of ethics.

2.       Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance when representing the district in and out of the district.

3.       Is progressive in attitude and actions; is receptive to exchange of ideas.

4.       Remains calm and poised under pressure and remains tactful in his dealings with people.

5.       Displays courage and conviction to his own beliefs; stands behind decisions and recommendations

7. Annual Goal Evaluation

The District Administrator shall develop professional and personal annual goals in support of the school district strategic plan and mission

  1. Annual goals will be established and action plans developed to support completion of goals.
  2. Administrator will attend appropriate workshops, classes, and conferences to support professional and career development as it relates to the Prairie Farm School district.
  3. Goals shall be reviewed twice annually.
