School District Legal Issues

The legal basis for public education in the school district is vested in the will of the people as expressed in the Wisconsin Constitution.  Public education is primatily a state responsibility and a local school district's function.

The official name of this school district is "School District of Prairie Farm".  It is classified as a common school district and includes part of Arland, Dallas, Prairie Farm and Vance Creek townships in Barron County; the Village of Prairie Farm in Barron County; and part of the townships of New Haven, Sheridan, and Wilson in Dunn County.

The District will be under the management and control of an elected seven member school board, which will act as an agent of the state and govern the public schools in accordance with state law.
